Chronicles of Tommorow: Echoes from the Future: Ep. 27 There is something at the door

9th June 2355, 10 PM,
I was woken up in the morning at 6:30 by another loud emergency broadcast. I was still groggy when I went downstairs to check the intercom, my presence was requested urgently at the Centre. I got dressed up in my worksuit in a daze and stepped out of home with nervous thoughts transgressing my mind. I hailed a maglev cab and reached the centre as soon as I could. I was fearing red beacons and wailing alarms but no, the city was not under siege. I felt a sense of relief within myself. However, the reported incident was also a matter of grave concern. Sometime back, we had established a few unmanned outposts in war torn or rundown skyscrapers, each at a radius of few kilometres from the city, to study changes in environment. We stopped receiving signals from one of them in the South about an hour before the security head called me. A drone had been sent to check out the damage. What our recon team dug out was shocking to say the least, the entire building had vanished, rather sucked into the ground.
